Changes

So we had zone conference this week. It was really great. We talked about effective study. I feel like my studies have gotten much better. We're especially focusing on studying for our investigators. I once heard that the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegard (sp?) said we should read the scriptures as though written personally for us. As missionaries we can take that one step further and read them as though written for others.
We also had some pretty exciting announcements. We no longer have specific restrictions on music. Before we could only listen to the Tabernacle Choir and hymns. Now we can listen to other music that fits the nature of our calling and brings the Spirit. President Taylor said he trusts our judgment. Also we can use mp3 players now. So that iPod that's been gathering dust in my desk finally came out today. It's nice to have access to all of my men's chorus music again (except for those songs that don't invite the Spirit). It's nice because there are a lot of really spiritual songs that weren't approved under the last policy. And the Singles Ward soundtrack is no longer kosher, which is probably a good thing.
Not a lot of exciting things happened this week. We're mostly just trying to find new investigators after having those three baptisms a few weeks ago. The husband in that family is warming up, though. We also have a child in a less active family who will hopefully get baptized soon. The only thing is he might be moving.
It's starting to cool down a little. We still have hot days but's it's feeling cooler in the evenings.
Love,
Elder Grasley
